Everton‘s forthcoming stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock opened its doors to 10,000 supporters for a trial event that featured an under-18 friendly against Wigan Athletic.

This comes as the Premier League team prepares to bid farewell to Goodison Park at the conclusion of this season. The construction of the new venue, which accommodates 52,888 spectators, spanned four years and nearly reached a cost of £800 million ($1.01 billion), as reported by British media. It is also slated to host games during Euro 2028. “The design is exceptional, with the stands feeling very close,” remarked Everton’s under-18 coach, Keith Southern, on Everton TV. “When it’s fully packed next season, it’ll be an incredible place to play.” Wigan’s Harrison Rimmer netted the first goal at Everton Stadium in the 12th minute. The match concluded with Everton losing 2-1, with Ray Robert scoring for the home team. Goodison Park, Everton’s base since 1892, saw its last derby on Wednesday with David Moyes’s team achieving a 2-2 draw against Liverpool. The stadium’s final official match will occur on May 18 when Everton face Southampton.

The stadium is scheduled for demolition, with plans to transform the site into a mixed-use development featuring residential units and office spaces.
