Estêvão wins it late for Chelsea against Liverpool

Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 at Stamford Bridge with a last minute goal from Estêvão. The win moves Liverpool off the top of the Premier League table just before the international break. It was their fourth straight league loss in London.

Liverpool looked shaky early on and were punished when Moisés Caicedo, who almost joined Liverpool before signing for Chelsea, fired a powerful shot from distance into the top corner. Liverpool nearly hit back right away through Dominik Szoboszlai, but a brilliant block from Benoît Badiashile kept Chelsea ahead.

Chelsea worked hard without the ball and made life difficult for Liverpool, who created some chances but lacked their usual sharpness. One key moment came when Milos Kerkez had an easy chance to pass to Mo Salah in front of goal, but he missed the target and passed to Marc Cucurella instead. Chelsea also came close to doubling their lead when Alejandro Garnacho hit the post just before half time.

At the break, Liverpool boss Arne Slot brought on Florian Wirtz to boost the attack. Wirtz nearly made an instant impact, finding Salah in the box, but the forward dragged his shot wide. Just after the hour, Liverpool finally equalised when Cody Gakpo smashed the ball home after a smart touch from Alexander Isak.

Despite losing both of their starting centre backs to injury, Chelsea looked stronger in the final minutes. Jamie Gittens, Caicedo, and Estêvão all forced saves from Giorgi Mamardashvili, but the breakthrough came in added time. Cucurella whipped in a low cross, and Estêvão slid in at the back post to score the winner and hand Liverpool another late defeat.
