George Russell won the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, starting from pole position and finishing ahead of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.
The win helped McLaren secure the Formula 1 constructors’ title, with six races still to go. This is McLaren’s second title in a row and the tenth in the team’s history.
Oscar Piastri finished fourth, meaning his lead over teammate Norris in the drivers’ standings dropped to 22 points. Together, Norris and Piastri earned enough points to match Red Bull’s 2023 record of winning the team championship early.
Behind them, Kimi Antonelli came fifth for Mercedes. Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton followed, with Fernando Alonso, Oliver Bearman, and Carlos Sainz completing the top ten.
At the start, Russell kept his lead cleanly. Norris, starting fifth, made an aggressive move past Antonelli and then overtook his teammate Piastri. On the radio, Piastri was clearly upset, saying Norris had barged him off the racing line.
The team chose not to intervene or tell Norris to give the place back, which made Piastri even more frustrated.

After tyre changes, the top four stayed in the same order. Verstappen, however, reported gearbox issues, saying it felt like a “handbrake.”
By lap 41 of 62, Norris was close behind Verstappen but couldn’t find a way past on the tight Singapore street circuit, where overtaking is very difficult.
The race was also the first to be declared a Formula 1 “Heat Hazard,” due to high humidity and temperatures. Drivers had access to cooling vests, although some, like Verstappen, chose not to wear them.
