Tottenham coach Antonio Conte believes that the conditions have been met for Spurs striker Harry Kane to sign a new contract with the club.
Kane’s contract expires in two years, but the club wants to keep the 29-year-old forward beyond that.
“You know very well that you made the right choice with your project (for extending the contract). If a football player also understands that there is a real process, that everyone is going in the same direction, I think that every player wants to see that. “There is a vision, there is a direction, and there is unity to try to improve the team and to improve the team to the level of his expectations,” Conte said, as reported by Sky.
The Italian coach stated that he is not aware of the details of a possible new contract with Kane, nor is he involved in any potential negotiations.
“My opinion is just one of a million opinions. We are talking about a first-class striker, a footballer who is currently Tottenham’s most representative player. I would certainly like him to sign a new contract. But, at this moment, it is very important that I see that he is happy and fully involved in this season, in this project and in what we are doing. Then it’s a decision that the player and the club have to make, “said Conte.
The captain of the English national team started the season well, scoring four goals in the first four games of the Premier League, in which Tottenham won 10 of a possible 12 points.
