After a somewhat calmer period of play, new excitement was brought to the match by Kaitel. In the 79th minute, the Freiburg player was in the right place at the right time, scoring after a rebound to make it 3-2.
Bayer threatened again through Wirtz , but one of the best players of the visiting team wasn’t as accurate as at the beginning of the match.
There were no further changes to the scoreline until the end of the match, with the final whistle signaling Bayer Leverkusen’s 22nd victory under Xabi Alonso.
Bayer Leverkusen leads the Bundesliga with 60 points, ten more than second-placed Bayern, while Freiburg is ninth with 33 points.
