Barcelona intends to keep the Portuguese duo, Fati could return

Former Barcelona football player, now sports director, Deco, reflected on this year’s engagement of Jo Félix and Jo Cancel, and the possible return of the young Ansu Fati, who is on loan in Brighton.

In an interview with RAC1, he spoke about Barcelona’s willingness to extend the Portuguese tandem’s stay.

“There is no doubt that we want to have them next season because they are important for the team. It’s still November, it’s early. But of course, we are already thinking about it. We’ll see how the season goes. There is no doubt that we want to have them next season because they are important to the squad. We are satisfied with their performance. We will see, these are discussions for later”, said Deko.

As for the performance of the Portuguese internationals so far, the director is satisfied.

“Cancelo already played as a right-back, but we knew his capabilities as a left-back, as a winger… I didn’t see anything strange in his position because it’s something he can do, respecting that his basic position is the position of a full-back,” he said. Deko added:

“As for Felix, he plays in his position, he is a playmaker who goes inside, and makes combinations, but since he arrived he had to play a lot. I think that both of them were spectacular in some games, and not so good in others, which is normal”.

The former Portuguese international did not rule out the possibility of the return of the 21-year-old La Masia youngster, who has been looking for minutes since this summer on loan at Brighton.

“Ansu can come back, of course. He is very young and happy now. He asked for a loan and asked for playing time and decided on Brighton and I think he did well. We follow him, Bojan (prim. aut. Bojan Krkić, who has recently been watching Barcelona‘s loan players) is doing a great job. I’m going to see him soon. The future depends on him. He can return to Barça, no doubt,” emphasized Deko.
