Barcelona fans have strongly reacted to the decision of the management of the Catalan club that the reserve kit of the next season’s jerseys will be white. Fans compared that color to Real Madrid.
However, many do not know that Barcelona used to wear such jerseys once upon a time, but even if they do – it is very difficult to explain to the fans.
The color white has been the symbol of Real Madrid for more than a hundred years, and the fans are rightly outraged.
The Catalan newspaper “Sport” announced that Barça will play in these jerseys, and the same source states that the president Joan Laporta and the club management approved the colors and design after the presentation two months ago.
Until the end of the 1970s, Barcelona often wore a white jersey. The last time it was the generation led on the field by Johan Cruyff in the 1977/78 season, after which the white color was withdrawn from use because it resembled too much the Real Madrid jersey.
Next year will be 45 years since the last time Barça wore a white jersey, and Laporta believes that sales of this kit could break all records.
What will happen in the end remains to be seen.
