Mtarfa keep first place as they turn defeat to victory

Mtarfa and Lija Athletics A  maintained their consistency in the Enemed Women’s Futsal League when they achieved convincing victories against Santa Margherita and Lija Athletics B respectively. Mtarfa turned defeat into victory after a  5-2 scoreline against Santa Margherita Futsal. The latter opened up a two-goal advantage in the initial part of the game through Darya Attard and Rohanne Zahra. Despite everything, Mtarfa remained focused and after reducing the score through Janice Pace, before the end of the first half, Oriana Bedingfield made it 2-2. In the second half, Mtarfa were determined to keep the first place in the table and added three more goals as Demi Magrin scored twice and Shania Spiteri sealed the final victory for her team. Referees were Sillah Al Hasana and Antonio Cassar. Lija Athletics A dominated the derby against Lija Athletics B as they beat them 6-0. Jackie Abdilla’s girls were already 3-0 up with Irena Drugovic who netted a hat-trick. In the second half, Ruth Steer Cheetham recorded a personal brace while Jasmin Vella rubberstamped the victory for Lija’s first team. Referees were Clint Cassar and Stefania Bonnici.
