Prime Minister Robert Abela this morning paid a visit at the athletes village in Paris where he met two Maltese athletes and MOC Officials.
The two athletes that greeted Dr Abela were Judoka Katryna Esposito and sprinter Beppe Grillo. The other three athletes namely swimmers Sasha Gatt, Kyle Micallef and shooter Gianluca Chetcuti were not present as at the time of the Prime Minister’s visit they were training in their pre determined scheduled slot in the Aquatics Centre in Seine-Saint-Denis and at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre respectively.
Dr Abela congratulated both athletes for managing to make it at the Olympics and wished them all the best in their respective competitions. He extended his best wishes also to Sasha Gatt, Kyle Micallef and Chetcuti.
Dr Abela was presented with a gift on this occasion by the Director of Finance David Azzopardi.
The MOC was represented at this visit also by Julian Pace Bonello, President, Kevin Azzopardi General Secretary, Paul Sultana Vice President and Chief de Mission, Maria Vella Galea Director of Media, Charlene Attard Director of Sport and Dr Lucienne Attard Director of Medical.
Both Esposito and Grillo were accompanied by their respective coaches namely Aurelian Ciprian Fleisz (Judo coach) and Steve Camilleri (Athletics coach). Physiotherapist Milos Stanisavljevic was also present during this morning’s meet and greet with Dr Abela.
