Ajax have confirmed the loan signing of Maximilian Ibrahimovic from AC Milan, with the Amsterdam giants securing the services of the Swedish forward until the end of the season, along with an option to buy.
The 19-year-old is the son of former Ajax and Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and returns to the Johan Cruyff Arena more than two decades after his father first made his name with the Dutch club. The purchase option is reportedly set at €3.5 million.

Maximilian Ibrahimovic will wear the number 27 shirt, a symbolic choice as it was the first squad number assigned to his father during his professional debut with Malmö in 1999.
Ajax director of football Marijn Beuker welcomed the youngster’s arrival, describing him as a player with strong attacking instincts and a competitive mindset.
He praised Ibrahimovic’s movement in and around the penalty area, his goal-focused finishing, dribbling ability and, above all, his winning mentality and work ethic on the training ground.
Beuker confirmed that Ibrahimovic will feature primarily for Jong Ajax, the club’s under-21 side competing in the Dutch second tier, while also training and gaining experience with the senior squad.
The Ajax official added that the club believes Ibrahimovic has significant potential and expressed hope that he can eventually earn a permanent role within the first team’s attacking unit.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic enjoyed a successful spell with Ajax between 2001 and 2004, scoring 48 goals in 115 appearances before earning a high-profile move to Juventus. It is understood that the former Sweden international, who currently serves as a senior advisor at AC Milan, played a key role in facilitating his son’s move back to Amsterdam.
Maximilian Ibrahimovic joined Milan in 2022 from Hammarby, the Swedish club in which his father holds a minority ownership stake. Since then, he has progressed through several youth levels, representing the under 17, under 18, under 19 and Futuro teams.
For Milan Futuro, the club’s under-21 side competing in Serie D, Ibrahimovic registered five goals and five assists in 18 appearances. He was also named in Milan’s matchday squad for the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final on 18 December 2025, although he remained an unused substitute.
Ibrahimovic remains under contract with AC Milan until 2027.
