Harry Kane double helps Bayern extend Bundesliga winning streak with 3-0 win

Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to nine points with a commanding 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena. The result marked Vincent Kompany’s seventh consecutive league win as Bayern manager and saw Harry Kane continue his stellar season with a brace, bringing his league tally to 21 goals.

Bremen, determined to avoid a repeat of their heavy 5-0 defeat to Bayern in September, held firm in the first half. Despite their defensive resilience, the visitors were forced to endure constant pressure from the hosts, who created several opportunities before the break.

Jamal Musiala saw his delicate effort saved by the alert Michael Zetterer, while both Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise narrowly missed the target with curling efforts that sailed over the crossbar. Bayern’s best chance of the half came just before the interval when Kane’s flicked header drifted just wide of the post, leaving Kompany to consider tactical adjustments during the break.

Kane Opens the Scoring

As the second half began, Harry Kane proved to be the solution to Bayern’s frustrations. The England captain came close to scoring early on, striking a thunderous shot against the woodwork. However, the breakthrough finally arrived less than 10 minutes later, when Bremen defender Anthony Jung was penalised for a handball in the box. Kane made no mistake from the spot, driving the penalty into the bottom left corner to give Bayern a deserved lead and notch his 20th league goal of the season.

Bayern continued to press for a second goal to secure the victory. Dayot Upamecano came close to doubling the lead, but his powerful shot at the near post was superbly saved by Zetterer, who kept Bremen within touching distance of their hosts.

Substitutes Seal the Win

Bremen remained determined to fight their way back into the game, but two Bayern substitutes ultimately dashed their hopes of salvaging a point. Konrad Laimer provided a perfectly weighted pass to Leroy Sané, who slotted home at the far post to register his sixth league goal of the campaign.

As the match entered stoppage time, Bremen’s evening took another unfortunate turn when Jung conceded a second penalty. Kane, as reliable as ever, calmly converted from the spot to secure his brace and maintain his 100% penalty record this season. His second goal of the night piled further pressure on second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who now face a must-win game against Wolfsburg to keep pace in the title race.

Bremen’s Struggles Continue

For Bremen, the defeat leaves them in eighth place as they continue their bid for European qualification. Despite their valiant defensive effort, individual errors proved costly, with Jung’s two handball infringements playing a key role in their downfall.
