PSG cruise to 4-1 victory over Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain extended their unbeaten Ligue 1 run to 23 matches with a convincing 4-1 win over Monaco at the Parc des Princes, moving 13 points clear at the top of the table as they close in on another league title.

Monaco started brightly and could have taken an early lead when Takumi Minamino found himself one-on-one with Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the Japan international’s effort was straight at the goalkeeper. PSG punished Monaco’s wastefulness soon after, with Vitinha curling a superb free-kick past Radoslaw Majecki following a foul on Désiré Doué.

Despite PSG’s dominance in possession, Monaco hit back against the run of play in the 17th minute. Denis Zakaria finished off a well-worked move involving Soungoutou Magassa and Breel Embolo, slotting the ball past Donnarumma at his near post, raising questions about the Italian keeper’s positioning. Monaco nearly completed the turnaround shortly after, but a crucial last-ditch tackle from Willian Pacho denied Minamino.

PSG had their chances to restore the lead before the break, with Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué both squandering opportunities. However, it wasn’t long into the second half before the home side regained control. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, on his home debut, calmly slotted past Majecki after being set up by Barcola in the 54th minute to score his first goal for the club.

Kvaratskhelia almost added another minutes later, but Majecki made an excellent save to deny him. PSG made it 3-1 when Ousmane Dembélé linked up with Doué before firing home emphatically. Dembélé remained a constant threat, and although he and Gonçalo Ramos missed further chances, PSG’s victory was sealed late on when Dembélé tapped in his second goal of the match—his 16th of the season—solidifying his position as the league’s top scorer.

Monaco faded as the match progressed, offering little threat in the closing stages, allowing PSG to comfortably see out the win. The result leaves Monaco third in Ligue 1 as both sides prepare for their upcoming UEFA Champions League fixtures, with PSG travelling to Brest on Tuesday and Monaco hosting Benfica.
