The Malta Blackball Federation has announced the list of players who will form part of the Maltese national team during the world championships that will take place in our country at the beginning of next month.
In total there will be eight categories of national teams and these are the men’s and women’s team, the seniors, the grandmasters, the masters and the under 15 , under 18 and even under 23 teams.
The men’s team will be made up of Mevrick Zammit, Leon Azzopardi, Johan Attard, Ryan Pisani, Lydan Debono, Scott Muscat and Dejan Grech as Clevion Micallef will be their coach.
The women’s team will be made up of Roberta Cutajar, Donna Bugeja, Lorna Micallef, Alexia Cassano, Ana Thomas and Amanda Mifsud. They will be led by Darren Micallef.
On the other hand, Stephen Mangion, Clayton Castaldi, Clint Grima, Clint Azzopardi, Chris Tabone, Dione Tedesco and Kevin Schembri will form the senior team which will be managed by Malcolm Parnis.
Ishmael Hatherly will lead the Malta Masters which includes Ivan Rizzo, Brian Grech, Antoine Aquilina, Jesmond Schembri, Christ Mills, Raymond Caruana and Marco Bonello.
Meanwhile the Malta Grandmasters will be coached by Teemor Mifsud with the players being Marcel Micallef, Iro Vella, John Lombardo, Gaetano Camilleri, Joe Camilleri and Alfred Micallef.
The under 23 team will be made up of Matthias Debono, Liam Mifsud, Daniel Vella, Deacon Formosa, Clydon Attard and Casdy Vella with Glenn Axiaq who will be their coach.
The under 18 team will have Chaylon Castaldi, Denzel Falzon, Steven Muscat, Mason Mifsud, Nordai Desira and Zveyden Tabone. Roderic Tanti will be the coach of this team.
Finally the youngest team in this tournament will be the one under 15 with four players who are Jake Castaldi, Nick Muscat, Dielyn Edwards and Shazen Ciantar.
The world championship of Blackball will take place in a prominent hotel in Bugibba between the November 2nd and 10th.
