European Aquatics and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) have officially renewed their exclusive broadcast partnership, ensuring comprehensive coverage of Europe’s premier aquatic sports competitions from 2025 through 2028.
Under this new four-year agreement, the EBU and its network of 22 public service broadcasters will continue to bring Europe’s top aquatic events to fans across the continent. Competitions covered under the deal include the European Swimming Championships, European Short Course Championships, European Senior Diving and Artistic Swimming Championships, and the European Water Polo Championships.
Both organisations have pledged to strengthen their collaboration further by working closely with National Federations. This coordinated effort is aimed at expanding the reach of aquatic sports and increasing their visibility and accessibility on both traditional and digital platforms.
In addition to broadcast coverage, the EBU’s free-to-air streaming platform, Eurovision Sport, will offer live and on-demand access to all major European Aquatics events, enhancing fan experience and expanding digital reach.
European Aquatics President Antonio Silva welcomed the renewed agreement, saying:
“Our strategy has always been to reach the maximum number of people on free-to-air channels, so we are very happy to be able to renew this contract with the EBU and to work together to grow the sport. The digital landscape is rapidly evolving, and this agreement enables us to continue to have a presence on eurovisionsport.com, which is an added benefit for fans of the sport.”
Glen Killane, Executive Director of EBU Sport, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership:
“Through this renewed agreement, we will continue to offer comprehensive, free-to-air access to top-tier aquatic competitions for fans across Europe. Working closely with European Aquatics and our Members, we remain committed to expanding the reach and impact of these sports across all platforms, including complementary coverage via our free streaming service, Eurovision Sport.”
The first event under the new agreement will be the European Aquatics Diving Championships, hosted at Gloria Sports Arena in Antalya. Fans can follow the action live via europeanaquatics.org.
