Team Malta enjoyed a memorable second day at the European Youth U15 Weightlifting Championships, with Kim Camilleri Lagana delivering an inspiring performance to claim bronze in the Clean & Jerk.
Facing off against 16 of Europe’s top lifters, Camilleri Lagana encountered a tough start in the Snatch phase. However, she demonstrated exceptional composure and mental toughness—hallmarks of her competitive character—bouncing back with determination and focus.
Her perseverance was rewarded in the Clean & Jerk, where she lifted an impressive 88kg to secure a third-place finish. The competition was fierce, with only a few kilograms separating the top lifters, but Kim Camilleri Lagana held her own against powerhouses from Ukraine, Turkey, and Italy, finishing ahead of several seasoned competitors.
Despite her youth, Camilleri Lagana proved once again that she belongs on the international stage, showing the discipline, grit, and resilience that define a true athlete. Her medal not only marks a significant personal milestone but also reflects the continued rise of Maltese weightlifting at the European level.
Team Malta’s journey at the championships continues tomorrow, as Aaliyah Gatt steps onto the platform in the 63kg Youth category, lifting at 17:00 Malta time.
