Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis won the gold medal in the pole vault at the World Championships in Eugene with a new world record.
Duplantis was already a sure gold winner when he broke the world record limit, which as of today is six meters and 21 centimeters, on his second attempt.
The Olympic champion improved by one centimeter the world record he set in March at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade.
The 22-year-old Swede won the last major title he was missing as he is already European champion, Olympic champion and world indoor champion.
The American Christopher Nilsen won silver with a jump of 5.94 meters, and the same height was jumped by the Filipino Ernest John Obiena, who won the bronze.
