TSITSIPAS: There is no better coach than my father, maybe I sound selfish if I say that

Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas emphasizes that there is no better coach than his father.

In the last period, Stefanos also collaborated with Mark Anthony Philippoussis, with whom he recently parted ways.

“Having several people around me helps me focus on what’s most important. I enjoyed my partnership with Mark Anthony Philippoussis and am still in close communication with him. He is not my colleague or coach, he is my friend”, began Tsitsipas.

While his main coach is still his father Apostolos.

“There is no better coach than my father. I might sound selfish saying that, but he was there, he quit his job for me when I was 12. He is developing every day, I am happy when I see him trying to learn as much as he can, either online or through books,” adds Tsitsipas and continues:

“The fact that he is humble and accepts that he is not perfect, just like me, brings me closer to him. He is not a ‘random’ coach, he is not someone who just picked up a racket and decided to train. He has knowledge, he worked with professionals before me. He knows what he’s doing and belongs there, next to me.”

Stefanos was asked if he wants to reach the Grand Slam title.

“Of course I want. Other players want that too. I think I wanted it so much before that it made it difficult for me. Whether I win a Grand Slam or not, I’m happy. I will continue to try to win the GS, but even if I don’t, it won’t be the end of the world”, concluded Tsitsipas.
