For the past few days, and even weeks, one of the main topics in the world of tennis has been the situation with Chinese tennis player Shuai Peng. Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka also spoke about that case.
To remind, Peng spoke publicly about the fact that she suffered sexual violence by the former Prime Minister of China, Zhang Gaoli, after which she disappeared.
Since the day she published a shocking confession in which she stated that “Gaoli called to play tennis together, and then abused it while his wife was on guard duty”, there is no trace or voice from Peng.
As the tennis and even the world public became increasingly concerned, it was Peng who allegedly sent a letter to the WTA:
– Hello everyone, this is Shuai Peng. Regarding the recently published news on the WTA website, that content has not been confirmed by me and was published without my consent. That is fake news, including the story of the alleged sexual abuse. That is not true – it is stated in the alleged statement of Peng, who mentioned that everything is fine with her:
– I’m not gone. I am not endangered, I am resting at home and everything is fine. Thanks for caring for me. If you post more news about me, please check first and post them with my consent. As a professional tennis player, I thank you for your care. I hope that, with your help, if the opportunity arises, I will continue to promote Chinese tennis, which I hope will only get better and better. Once again, thank you for caring.
What is most worrying is that despite the fact that she is “well and safe”, no one can get in touch with her for weeks.

Famous people in the tennis world, such as Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, are also worried.
– I was recently informed that the tennis player disappeared shortly after she announced that she had experienced sexual violence. Censorship is never good, I hope Shuai Peng, but also her family, is safe and well. I am really shocked by this situation and I am sending her all my love – the Japanese woman wrote.
Even WTA President Steve Simon pointed out that he is very concerned about the safety of the Chinese tennis player.
– It is very hard for me to believe that Shuai Peng wrote the e-mail we received. Peng showed remarkable courage when she described what happened to her and what a once high-ranking government official did to her. The WTA, like the rest of the world, must get independent and clear proof that it is safe. I try again and again to get to her in various ways, but I fail.
Novak Djokovic also gave his opinion on the currently “hot” topic in the world of tennis.
– I don’t have much information about everything, I found out about it a week ago and I’m really shocked by the news that she disappeared, even more so because it’s someone I’ve seen on tour several times in previous years. I don’t have much to say except that I hope he finds her, that she’s fine. It is very awful, I can only imagine how her family feels – said the best tennis player in the world.
The really big question is what is really going on with Peng?
