By defeating Holger Rune in three sets, Novak Djokovic opened the Final Tournament in Turin.
The first racket of the world reached victory after a little more than three hours of play – 7:6(4), 6:7(1), 6:3.
In addition to the big step towards the semi-finals, the triumph over the Danish player secured Novak first place at the end of the year, the eighth time in his career.
Both tennis players took away the opponent’s serve once in the first set and went to a tiebreak.
There, Novak was better with 7:4, so he led with 1:0 in the sets.
We saw an almost identical development of the situation in the second set, with the fact that Rune was convincing in the tie-break – 7:1.
At the start of the third set, the tennis players took a break, and then Đoković once again took away the opponent’s serve for the final victory.
In the second round, the Serbian player will play against Janik Siner. That match will be played on Tuesday at 9 p.m.
