Andrey Rublev defeated Holger Rune in an incredible way in the round of 16 of the Australian Open and now he is waiting for a better one from the duel between Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur.
The Russian tennis player was on the verge of losing to the young Dane, who had as many as two match points, but Rublev managed to stay calm and spectacularly returned to the winning track.
After the match, he was beaming with happiness. He simply could not believe how he managed to win this match, and one of the first questions after the end of the duel was related to the next opponent.
Rublev also gave a more than sympathetic answer about the upcoming rival.
“No one wants to play against Djokovic. I would prefer to be in the second part of the draw, rather than in Novak’s,” said Rublev, but then the host reminded him that Alex de Minaur could also be his rival in the quarterfinals.
