The third tennis player in the world, Ons Jabeur, announced that she will not participate in the tournaments in Doha and Dubai due to minor surgery.
“My medical team decided that I have to have a minor operation in order to return to the field and play well. I will have to withdraw from Doha and Dubai and this breaks my heart. I would like to apologize to all the fans in the Middle East who have been waiting for this reunion. I promise that I will return to you stronger and healthier”, wrote Jabeur on her Facebook account.
At the recently concluded first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open, the Tunisian was defeated in the second round by the Czech Marketa Vondrousova.
The WTA tournament in Doha is played from 13 to 18 February, while the competition in Dubai is scheduled from 19 to 25 February.
