Spain’s Rafa Nadal, who achieved victory in 22 Grand Slam singles championships, declared on Thursday that he is concluding his professional tennis career, with the decision taking effect following the conclusion of the Davis Cup final.

“In particular, these past two years have been quite challenging,” shared the 38-year-old player, who holds a remarkable record of 14 French Open victories, in a video message. “I am immensely thrilled that my final tournament will be the Davis Cup, where I will proudly represent my country. It feels like a full circle moment, as one of my earliest triumphs was in the Sevilla final in 2004.” The Davis Cup knockout stage is scheduled to take place from November 19th to 24th. Nadal’s journey has been marred by injuries, leading to his absence from the 2023 French Open and a first-round defeat at the hands of German player Alexander Zverev this year.

His last triumph at Roland Garros occurred in 2022, leaving him with an astonishing win-loss record of 112-4 on the clay courts of Paris.
