Kyrgios: No one like Federer, regardless of whether Novak and Rafa will surpass him statistically

Nick Kyrgios will play the Rakuten Open in Tokyo this week, where he is one of the favorites.

After arriving at the tournament, Nick talked about his plans, but also touched on Roger Federer.

“Yes, I watched all that. It was a special moment. Like I said, he’s probably the greatest, most natural, most gifted tennis player in the world that we’ll ever see. Regardless of whether Novak and Rafa will surpass him statistically. I hope he will enjoy himself after retirement. He has four children, a beautiful family, it was time to put the racket down and enjoy life,” began Kyrgios.

This is the first tournament for the Australian after the US Open.

“There is a lot that I can control, I take all possible steps and deal with it off the field. I can do what is in my power, and I am here in Tokyo to play good tennis, to continue where I left off and to do my job, to play tennis and that well. That’s all,” Nick added.

Defeat at the US Open only motivated him further, says the outstanding tennis player.

“I thought the US Open was a good chance for me. Obviously, that defeat hurt me because I believed that I was the favorite after beating Daniil Medvedev. Now I have to wait until the Australian Open, but I want to maintain my form, I want this good moment to continue. I’m doing whatever it takes to win that grand slam. You can’t just show up to a Grand Slam and win it. It is necessary to lay the foundations. I’m super excited to be here in Japan again,” Kyrgios concluded.
