Guy Forget, director of Roland Garros and Masters in Paris, has resigned from both positions. It was transmitted by the “Team” newspaper, and the former tennis player, now the former president, informed the president of the Tennis Federation of France, Gilles Moreton, about his decision.
He performed this function for a full nine years.
Forget was the first man behind the Grand Slam in Paris since 2016, while he had been in charge of the tournament in Bercy since 2012.
The mentioned paper does not state the reasons for this decision, but it is assumed that the reason is that his name is mentioned in “Pandora’s papers,” which revealed that he had an offshore company.
The French Tennis Association then issued a statement stating that Forget did not violate the values of honesty and integrity, given that there was no evidence of criminal behavior, but the association urged him to do everything possible to prevent possible damage to his reputation by reflecting on the tournaments he leads.
