For the first time in twenty years, five players from the United States are ranked within the top 15 of the Women’s Tennis Association, the USTA announced on Monday.
Leading the American contingent is world number two, Coco Gauff, followed by Jessica Pegula in sixth place and Danielle Collins, who has risen to ninth amid her impressive farewell season.
Madison Keys holds the 14th spot, while Emma Navarro has jumped two places to reach a career-best 15th after making it to her first major quarter-final at Wimbledon.
The previous occasion when five American women were in the top 15 was on May 24, 2004, with Lindsay Davenport ranked fourth globally.
