Roger Federer’s coach, Ivan Ljubicic, pointed out that Federer’s worst loss in his career was against Novak Djokovic in the 2019 Wimbledon final.
-” We could not digest the defeat by Djokovic in 2019. That match caused us a lot of pain. Roger beat Nadal in the semi-finals after four sets. He was worried, and under pressure, I had to convince him that he could win because he felt inferior. I cried after that match, but that duel will be forgotten because of everything that happened two days later,” says Ivan and adds:
While his most significant title is the one from 2017 at the Australian Open, when he was better than Rafael Nadal in the final.
-” The biggest victory was over Rafael Nadal at the 2017 Australian Open. For me, it was the most important match in the history of tennis,” Ljubicic concluded.
The Swiss decided to end his career after the Laver Cup this year.
