4th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova clinched her fifth career championship by defeating the 5th seed, Dayana Yastremska from Ukraine, in a thrilling final at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz. The match ended with a scoreline of 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 in favour of Alexandrova. Throughout the match, the Russian player showcased her skills by delivering two aces and capitalizing on eight double faults made by Yastremska. The victory was particularly significant for Alexandrova as she had previously finished as the runner-up twice in this tournament over the past six years. On the other hand, Yastremska’s last tournament win dates back to her triumph over Caroline Garcia in Strasbourg, France, in 2019.

Moving on to the Singapore Tennis Open, Elise Mertens, the second seed from Belgium, claimed her ninth singles title of her career after a dominant performance against Ann Li in the final. Mertens sealed the victory with a comfortable score of 6-1, 6-4. The 29-year-old player showcased her serving prowess, firing four aces and winning an impressive 75 percent of her first serve points (39 out of 52).

The entire match lasted for 1 hour and 22 minutes. This singles tournament victory marked Mertens’ first since her triumph at the Monastir title in October 2023.
