Novak Djokovic starts his quest for the title in Paris. Before the start of the tournament, he spoke to the media where he touched on Paris, Wimbledon, expectations…
The Serbian tennis player knows no defeat in the hall.
After the titles in Tel Aviv and Astana, it is now the turn of Paris and “Berce”, where he has lifted the cup six times, the most in the history of this tournament.
- I feel great, I had a lot of success in this tournament, and that always helps to come with a lot of self-confidence, positive emotions and memories on the court. The last two times I played I won the title – in 2019 and 2021 – I hope to continue the streak. I like the conditions, although after a few training sessions I have to say that they are different – I spoke with the director, he told me that the court is faster, it will take some time to get used to it – said Djokovic.
He cited the Grand Slam in Great Britain as a turning point after the unfavorable situation in Australia.
- I feel different on the field in the second part of the season, in a positive way. Everything that happened was a big mental challenge for me, it also affected the game. It took time to find my game, at the end of the clay season I managed it, and somehow Wimbledon always comes at the right time, when I need confidence and a big title. It was a significant title. I played excellently in Tel Aviv and Astana, I have generally good indoor results, I will try to continue. I trained the previous days – Novak added.
Asked how he organized his time and preparations when he couldn’t play, he gave the following answer:
- It was a completely new experience – not a very good experience, but a life experience on the basis of which I became stronger. I knew that the bad feeling I had would not last forever, that it was only a matter of time when I would find a balance – concluded Novak.
In the first round, Novak is free, and in the second he will meet with the better of the duel between Maxim Cressy and Diego Schwartzman.
