Djokovic and his beginning in Madrid until today

World number one Novak Djokovic will do his best this year to reach his fourth title at the Masters tournament in Madrid.
So far, he has played in this tournament for the 11th time, played the finals three times, and celebrated all three times.

2006:

This is the first year when he appeared in this tournament, where he was stopped in the quarterfinals by Chilean Fernando Gonzalez with the result – 7:5, 5:7, 7:5.

2007:

The following year, he returned to the tournament, reaching the semifinals, where David Nalbandian from Argentina was better than him in two sets – 6:4, 7:6.

2008:

That year, he played worse than the previous ones, but in the second round he was knocked out by the Croatian Ivo Karlovic after two sets and two tie-breaks.

2009

Djokovic reached the semifinals again that year, but the king of slag, Rafael Nadal, was better than him, after the turnaround – 3: 6, 7: 6, 7: 6.

2011

Novak did not play in 2010, and then in 2011 Djokovic won his first title at the Masters in Madrid and retaliated for the defeat because he beat Rafa Nadal in the final, with the result of 7:5, 6:4.

2012

The Serbian tennis player reached the quarterfinals again, where his compatriot Janko Tipsarevic was the eighth tennis player in the world, who then celebrated in two sets 7:6, 6:3.

2013

Already in the first match played, Djokovicwas defeated by the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, with the result of 6:7, 7:6, 3:6.

2016

Novak missed two seasons, and then Djokovic won the title again, after he was better than Andy Murray from Great Britain in the final, with the result of 6:2, 3:6, 6:3.

2017

Rafa Nadal stopped Novak again, this time in the semifinals of the tournament, with the result of 2:0 – 6:2, 6:4.

2018

He was stopped in the second round by the Briton Kyle Edmund with 3:6, 6:2, 3:6, the injury that befell him in the first part of the season, was reflected in Madrid that year.

2019

The Serbian tennis player reached the final where he was better than the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas with a routine result of 6:3, 6:4 and thus recorded his third title.

The next season of the competition was not due to the coronavirus, and in 2021, Novak Djokovic decided not to play the tournament, this year we are all looking forward to it because he has not really become famous so far.
