Carlos Alcaraz continues to discuss his unexpected exit from the Buenos Aires semifinals. Despite being regarded as the world’s second-best tennis player, he suffered an unexpected defeat at the hands of Chile’s Nicolas Jarry in straight sets, 7:6 (2), 6:3.
As the top seed in Brazil, the Spanish prodigy is set to face local talent Thiago Monteiro in the opening round, who secured a spot in the main draw with a wild card.
“The truth is that now the expectations are such that I should win every match, regardless of the tournament I’m in. I think that Jarry has a level of play that can beat anyone,” Alcaraz pointed out and added:
“It’s a pity that since 2023 I haven’t been able to fix things regarding concentration on the field. There is no other way, it is something that is a process and that lasts, and my level of play is based on the level of behavior and energy that I invest in every match. The year is very long, many things can still happen, we will see how everything will develop”, added the second tennis player in the world, Carlos Alcaraz.
Following his defeat in Buenos Aires, Alcaraz further slipped behind ATP leader Novak Djokovic, trailing by 750 points.
