The Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, withdrew from the tournament in Montreal.
He shared this information on social networks with the explanation:
– After a rest and a later return to training, everything was going in the right direction. Four days ago I started to train with higher intensity, but yesterday, after training, I had a little discomfort that was present today as well – wrote Nadal on Twitter, then added:
– We decided not to travel to Montreal and to continue training without force. I sincerely thank the tournament director Eugene and his entire team for the understanding and support they have always shown me, and today was no exception. I hope to play again in Montreal, a tournament I love and have won five times in front of a crowd that has always welcomed me with great love. I have no choice but to be prudent and think about health at this time.
For memory’s sake, Novak Djokovic also withdrew from the same tournament, only for other reasons.
