Legendary Mats Wilander admitted that he thought that Rafael Nadal would not win any more Grand Slam titles, and that he was delighted with what the Spanish tennis player did at the Australian Open.
Nadal was a great success, and many remembered the match against Djokovic, which Nadal lost in Melbourne. Now Vilander has spoken:
- I must admit that I thought he lost in the race for the best of all time when Novak beat him in the semifinals of Roland Garros last year – said Wilander and added:
- I thought that’s it, he won’t be able to compete anymore. I thought he might win Roland Garros one more time, and maybe not even that. And suddenly we are here. That is unbelievable – said Wilander.
He spoked also about Federer.
- Federer’s contribution to tennis is obvious and will be remembered forever, even though he has not won any major titles. But I think Rafa will leave a bigger mark after this. “Nothing is impossible for him,” Wilander said.
