Reigning champion Judd Trump comfortably defeated local favourite He Guoqiang to advance to the round of 32 at the Wuhan Open. Trump appears to be on course for his third title of the season, scoring consecutive century breaks in a 5-2 victory.
Despite starting strong with a break of 139, the Chinese player could not maintain his performance in the following frames. Impressive precision was on display as Trump executed a long-range plant to secure a 5-2 win over He Guoqiang in his quest for a second consecutive Wuhan Open title.

The defending champion scored breaks of 116 and 137 in two consecutive frames, winning four frames in a row before a slight stumble in the sixth frame. Trump’s opponent had the highest break of the match with 139 in the first frame, but was unable to maintain that level of play as Trump dominated the game.
The tournament started well for Trump, who scored three century breaks in a 5-1 victory over newcomer Antoni Kowalski in the opening round, and continued his impressive form in this match. After He’s strong start, Trump took control and won the second and third frames with breaks of 55 and 67, respectively. He could only score two points in the fourth frame and none in the fifth, as Trump scored 116 and 137, giving He a difficult task to catch up. He managed to win the sixth frame with a break of 84, but it was not enough as Trump sealed the match with a break of 68.
For the next round, Trump will face Anthony McGill, who defeated Mostafa Dorgham 5-4.
