European Snooker Championship in Golem 2025 Malta looses the final once more against Ukraine

On Saturday in Golem, Albania, the European Snooker Championship came to an end with the semi finals and final of the men’s team category. For the second consecutive year a Maltese team qualified for the final but lost against the same opponents, Ukraine who during the group stage the same teams played against the Maltese but were defeated.
Malta 3 composed by Philip Ciantar and Isaac Borg were the only Maltese team left in the competition and in the morning during the semi final they had another excellent performance and won, 3-0, against France 1 of Nicolas Mortreux and Gauvain Bazin.


In the afternoon the opponents of the Maltese in the final were Anton Kazakov and Mykhailo Larkov with whom the duo Ciantar and Borg had won, 3-0, earlier in the group stage. The final unfolded totally differently even if the Maltese took an early lead after the first frame. In the second frame the Ukrainians equalized and from then on they were more focused and won the two successive frames and closed the encounter, 3-1, with the scores of the frames ending; 73-30, 24-69, 20-68, 1-82.

Although Philip Ciantar and Isaac Borg lost and finished as runners up they still had a extraordinary run during these European Championship and from six games they played
they won five.
