Romain Sais: "It would be wonderful to win 3rd place"

The captain of the Moroccan football team , Romain Sais , said that the team was disappointed by the defeat against France, but that reaching the semifinals of the World Cup was an exceptional result and that winning the third place would be an incentive for the upcoming competitions.

“We are disappointed. We are competitors and we would like to go all the way, but we have achieved something extraordinary. It’s not over, there’s one more game left. It would be great to win third place. That would serve us for the next competitions, world championships, African Cups”, said Sais .

Morocco failed to qualify for the finals of the World Cup in Qatar, as they lost tonight to the current champion France with 0:2.

“In football, everything is possible when you do the right things, when you have the spirit and desire to do your best on the field. We want to bring the trophies back to Morocco. I am grateful to all Moroccans, they were a valuable help to us during the competition, whether here or in Morocco, our fans, our families, we had exceptional support and we are proud to have enabled them to experience this”, said the captain.

He had to leave the field in the first half due to an injury.

“I had an examination before the game and I felt good, but after one action I got injured. I don’t regret it, but I would have preferred it to have happened in the warm-up, so that I could have given up my place on the field. It’s like that, it’s fate, we played in the round of 16, the quarterfinals, we did a lot of good things,” said Sais .

Morocco is the first African national team in the semi-finals in the history of the world championships, and on Saturday at 16:00 they will play the match for the third place against Croatia.
