The Malta Taekwondo Association (MTA) proudly congratulates its President, Anna Vassallo, on her re-election to the World Taekwondo (WT) Council following the elections held in Wuxi, China.
This prestigious appointment secures another four-year term for Ms. Vassallo within the highest decision-making body of World Taekwondo, a recognition of her dedication, leadership, and longstanding commitment to the sport at both the national and international levels.
The recent WT elections marked a significant structural change, with the Council reduced from 34 to 14 members. Each continent is now represented, with Europe holding six seats, making it the largest continental bloc. Ms. Vassallo’s continued presence on the Council ensures that Malta and Southern Europe remain actively represented at the very heart of Taekwondo’s global governance.
Earlier this year, Ms. Vassallo was also elected Vice President of the European Taekwondo Union (ETU), another important achievement that reflects her growing influence and the respect she commands within the international Taekwondo community.

Her dual positions within both the ETU and WT underline Malta’s rising prominence in the global Taekwondo landscape. With over 80 million practitioners worldwide, the sport continues to expand rapidly, and Malta’s representation at the top level offers unique opportunities for collaboration, development, and growth.
These appointments are not only personal milestones but also a source of national pride. Ms. Vassallo’s vision and leadership continue to inspire athletes, coaches, and officials across all levels of the sport.
The Malta Taekwondo Association extends its warmest congratulations to President Anna Vassallo and wishes her continued success in her ongoing mission to advance Taekwondo both locally and globally.
