The curtain is set to rise on the first major Silver Class finale of the year this Sunday, 30th March, as the highly anticipated Phone Refix Championship Final takes place at the Malta Equidrome.
Organised by the Malta Racing Club, the event has captured widespread attention in the local equestrian scene. It began with 98 horses in the initial rounds, whittled down to just 12 elite finalists after two fiercely contested qualifying phases. The final race will feature as the seventh event in a ten-race programme, with a scheduled start time of approximately 4:00 PM.
At a press conference earlier this week, Mr Clint Abela, director of Phone Refix, expressed his enthusiasm about the growing partnership with Malta Equidrome. He highlighted the company’s commitment to the sport, building on their initial involvement in supporting Premier Plus races last year.
“We’re incredibly proud to have the Phone Refix name associated with an entire championship,” said Mr Abela. “It’s an honour to support such an exciting sport, and we’re thankful to all involved. Best of luck to the finalists and every racing enthusiast.”
Speaking on behalf of the Malta Racing Club, Mr Tony Demanuele, the club’s vice-chairman, underlined the significance of the Silver Class, which regularly draws a large field of competitors.
“The Silver Class is always special. It features both seasoned campaigners and promising newcomers, creating a unique and unpredictable dynamic that fans love.”
Dr Matthew Brincat, CEO of Malta Equidrome, echoed these sentiments, praising Phone Refix’s involvement and expressing confidence in the future of their collaboration. Meanwhile, Mr Max Zammit, CEO of EquestriMalta, commended the growing sponsorships in Maltese horse racing and hinted at new developments set to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
