Danish Jumbo Visme cyclist Jonas Vingegaard won today, for the first time in his career, at the Tour de France, and the winner of the last 21st stage was Belgian Jasper Philipsen.
Vingegaard is the first Dane to win the biggest cycling race in the world since Bjarne Riis in 1996.
Vingegaard finished the race in 79 minutes, 33 minutes and 20 seconds. He was two minutes and 43 seconds ahead of Tadej Pogačar, the two-time consecutive champion from Slovenia.
Geraint Thomas of the United Kingdom is third in the overall standings, seven minutes and 22 seconds behind the winner.
After a strong sprint, Philipsen was the fastest in the last stage of 115.6 kilometers, which was driven around Paris, and finished traditionally on the Champs Elysées. He achieved a time of two hours, 58 minutes and 32 seconds.
The second place was taken by the Dutchman, Dylan Groenewegen, and the third by the Norwegian, Alexander Kristoff.
In the last stage, traditionally, the holder of the yellow shirt is not attacked. About six kilometers to the finish line, Geraint Thomas and Pogačar broke away, but the group still caught up with them. Philipsen managed to stand out with a sprint and achieve his second stage victory of the Tour.
