The Sirens Aquatic Sports Club women’s water polo team from has commenced their campaign at the Gauteng Invitational Water Polo Tournament in Johannesburg. The tournament, held at St David’s Marist Inanda from 3 to 6 April 2025, features top international teams competing over four days.

On the opening day, Sirens faced two challenging matches. They began with a 4-7 defeat against the Tridents, an African team. However, they demonstrated resilience by securing a narrow 12-11 victory over Tuks, another African side, in their second match.

The Gauteng Invitational is regarded as a premier event for senior water polo in South Africa, providing teams with an opportunity to compete against high-caliber opponents. Sirens’ participation underscores their commitment to gaining international experience and enhancing their competitive edge.
Over the next three days, Sirens will continue to compete against 14 international teams, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities for growth. This experience is not only about competition but also about cultural exchange and building camaraderie with fellow athletes from around the world.
