The winners of the 64th edition of the Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali together with the officials of the Malta Sports Journalists Association paid a courtesy visit to H.E. the President of Malta, George Vella, at San Anton Palace.
H.E Dr. Vella congratulated all the winners and thanked them for their unconditional commitment to Sport. He commented that the year 2023 was an exceptional year for Sport in Malta a year in which our country managed to top the final standings of the Games of the States of Europe which were hosted in Malta.
The President of the Malta Sports Journalists Association Sandro Micallef from his part thanked Dr. Vella for his support to the Malta SJA and remarked that this visit was specifically organised to thank him personally for his service as head of State as his term comes to an end in just a few days. Mr Micallef also thanked Dr Vella’s ADC and all the staff at the President’s office for their collaboration especially for their support for the organisation of the annual Boxing Day Tournament, which also raises funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund.
Accompanying Mr Micallef were Lorraine Cunningham and Stephen Azzopardi, General Secretary and Administrator respectively of the Malta Sports Journalists Association.
