Futsal Week in Malta was full of action and unexpected results in both leagues, which are becoming more competitive every year. In the men’s league, the University of Malta and Birżebbuġa St Peter’s stayed consistent and kept their places at the top. In the women’s league, Zero Sei Futsal took advantage of St George’s draw and moved into first place after an excellent performance.
Men’s League
Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness claimed their first win of the season in style, beating the Malta FA Futsal Selection U17 by 5-1, with Brazilian player Rodrigues Silva Leandro standing out. The University of Malta showed their strength again with a 7-0 win over Marsaskala Futsal Legends, keeping them among the favourites for the title.
Zejtun Corinthians Futsal also picked up their first win with a solid 7-4 performance, while Birżebbuġa St Peter’s stayed close to the top thanks to an 8-1 victory over Santa Venera Lightnings, who are still looking for their first points.
The University of Malta and Birżebbuġa St Peter’s share first place with 9 points each. Marsaskala Legends follow with 6 points, while Luxol St Andrews, Sliema Fort Fitness and Zejtun Corinthians all have 3 points. The bottom three, U19 Selection, U17 Selection and Santa Venera Lightnings, remain without points.
Women’s League
In a fast and lively match, St George’s Futsal and Swieqi United Futsal drew 4-4. Zero Sei Futsal took full advantage of this and earned a strong 10-2 win over Parr Mela Rockets Futsal, which put them top of the table on their own. Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus also impressed with an 8-0 win against St Andrews Futsal, keeping them firmly in the top three.
Zero Sei Futsal lead with 9 points, followed by St George’s Futsal with 7 and Luxol Futsal Argus with 6. St Andrews sit on 3 points, Swieqi United have 1 point, and Parr Mela Rockets are still without any points.
