A team of young Maltese athletes took an impressive second place in a field of forty-one teams at the HYROX Rome Relay, clocking a time of 55 minutes and 1 second. The quartet of Matthew Ellul, Christian Camilleri, Beppe Vella and Kurt Attard delivered a measured performance to finish as runners-up in the men’s relay, comfortably inside the hour.
Held in Rome, the event tested complete athletic capability through eight one-kilometre runs and eight functional workout stations. The Maltese foursome showed excellent teamwork, crisp handovers and steady pacing throughout the stations and runs, keeping their challenge on track from the opening leg to the finish. It is a fine achievement for these four athletes in a strong international field.
The result follows Malta Sport’s recent coverage of Dzintra Grech earning World Championship qualification in Rome and Mark Caruana’s high level Pro display, underlining the growing momentum of Maltese athletes on the HYROX circuit.
