The Formula 1 grid will look a little different in 2025 as the team formerly known as RB Formula One is officially rebranding as Racing Bulls, the FIA confirmed in their 2025 entry list. The move marks the latest chapter in the evolution of the Red Bull-owned outfit, which has undergone several identity shifts since its origins as Minardi.
After a season spent navigating the clunky moniker of Visa Cash App RB, the team has opted for a name that combines clarity with the energy synonymous with Red Bull’s branding. The full official name will now be Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, a nod to their title sponsors, but the paddock and fans will simply call them Racing Bulls.
The rebrand comes after a year of confusion surrounding the team’s identity. Despite denials earlier in the year, the name Racing Bulls aligns with the team’s registered company name, which had sparked speculation since January.
Speaking at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, team CEO Peter Bayer admitted that the initial rollout of the RB name had created challenges. “We’ve been struggling to a certain extent with making it clear to people what the team name is and have seen so many versions,” Bayer explained. “In January, it all happened within weeks, and we were probably rushing a couple of things.”
The new name simplifies the branding while paying homage to Red Bull’s iconic identity, ensuring fans and media alike can quickly recognize the team.
The team has undergone multiple transformations over its storied history. From its humble beginnings as Minardi, to its rebranding as Scuderia Toro Rosso, then AlphaTauri, and most recently Visa Cash App RB, the Racing Bulls name signals a fresh start for 2025.
Now based in Faenza, Italy, Racing Bulls aims to build on its rich heritage while carving out a stronger competitive identity under its new banner.
The rebranding isn’t just cosmetic. The team, which finished the 2024 season on an upward trajectory, is set to continue with rising star Liam Lawson, who impressed throughout the year, alongside a yet-to-be-confirmed teammate. With improved performance and stability in their management, Racing Bulls will be looking to push further up the midfield and challenge for consistent points finishes.
The team also maintains strong backing from Visa Cash App, whose financial support has played a crucial role in the development of the team’s infrastructure and on-track competitiveness.
In a sport where branding is everything, Racing Bulls offers a simpler and more marketable identity that aligns closely with its Red Bull roots. The rebrand also reflects the team’s ambition to step out from the shadow of its sister team, Oracle Red Bull Racing, and forge its own path.
“This is about more than just a name,” Bayer said. “It’s a signal of intent. We want to make Racing Bulls a name that is synonymous with excitement, competition, and progress.”
As the Formula 1 grid evolves, Racing Bulls enters 2025 with a fresh identity and renewed focus. The team has made it clear they are ready to embrace their future, aiming not just to compete but to make a mark in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.
The question now is whether Racing Bulls can live up to their name bring the fight to the track and perhaps exceed expectations. With a new chapter beginning, fans will be watching closely when the lights go out at the start of the 2025 season.
