After their initial defeat to Floriana, Birkirkara faced a second straight loss, going down 0-2 against Hamrun Spartans during the 360Sports Opening Round Top 6 at the National Stadium on Saturday. This setback allows Floriana to edge just two points behind.
Conversely, Hamrun Spartans secured their second consecutive victory but remain in fifth place. The Spartans gained the lead shortly before half-time, three minutes into stoppage time, when Juan Corbalan set up Shaisen Attard. Attard outpaced two defenders and skilfully placed the ball beyond goalkeeper Giacomo Volpe.
The score was doubled by Hamrun at the 70-minute mark. After an impressive run down the right wing, Joseph Mbong provided the assist for Raphael Lopes, who confidently scored past the Birkirkara goalkeeper.
