The Spanish soap opera, starring Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona, is getting harder. Nothing is easy in the Catalan club lately, and Xavi and Laporta are doing everything to save the ship Blugariana from the flood.
Dembele has not left the titles of the Catalan papers since the beginning of the season, because the saga around his contract has been developing for several months. The Frenchman was reportedly first sure he wanted to sign a new contract with Barça, then flirted with the English, and is now asking for 40,000,000 per season to stay.
The coach and one of the best players in the history of Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez, is no longer fond of questions about the French national team player, who, according to him, is a story to him, and something else to the media.
– Look, I can only say that the situation is complex and difficult. The club has decided that, if he does not want to extend the contract, he must make a decision that will benefit everyone – said Xavi and continued:
It is not easy for (director) Alemanni, because he has been negotiating with Dembele‘s agents for five months and we cannot wait any longer. So if he doesn’t sign, we’ll make the decision for him.
It is not easy for the Spanish expert, who is obviously losing patience with the Frenchman and his agents.
I don’t want to be rude to anyone, things are simple – either extend the contract or go – he sent a clear message to Xavi.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker joined Barcelona in 2017 in a transfer worth 140 million euros. He has since played for Barça 129 times, scored 31 goals, and recorded 23 assists.
