The organizers of the Australian Open will pay the court costs of Novak Djokovic for the dispute he lost and following which he was deported from that country, the “Daily Mail Australia” reported.
It should be noted that Djokovic was stopped upon arrival at the airport in Melbourne, after which the border service took away his visa and placed him in an immigration hotel. Novak won the first lawsuit before the court, he started training, and later he was detained again. There was another dispute that the best tennis player in the world lost, when the decision of the Minister of Immigration, Alex Hawke, on the new abolition of the visa and his deportation was confirmed.
After the second court decision, the Serbian tennis player was ordered to pay all court costs, which are estimated to reach half a million dollars. All of this includes lawyers who represented Australia, up to the cost of the trial and the fees paid by Novak’s lawyers on his behalf.
According to the local media, all those costs could eventually be paid by the organizers of the Australian Open.
The most important thing people do not know, and that is that Tennis Australia pays those costs, not Djokovic, the “Daily Mail Australia” reported, and it is further stated:
Since the state gives money to Tennis Australia for the organization of the tournament, that means that, in the end, the costs of the process are paid by the taxpayers of this country.
