The Malta women’s national team returned into action in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifications, facing Bosnia-Herzegovina in a double-header while bidding farewell to former captain Dorianne Theuma. The first women player to make 100 appearances for the women’s selection, Theuma played in the home game against Bosnia-Herzegovina as she has now hung up her boots for good.
Another player joining her in the Century Club is Stephania Farrugia, Birkirkara’s experienced defender. Ann-Marie Said, also of Birkirkara, and Haley Bugeja, who is on the books of Inter, played their 50th and 30th matches for the national team respectively.
Said, on her part, was also one of the Gozitan members of the national team to be recognised from the Gozo Football Association.
Meanwhile, Manuela Tesse’s side will host its final League B game when they face Northern Ireland in the upcoming July international window.
