Manchester United defender Raphael Varane decided today to withdraw from the French national team in order to devote himself to club duties.
French media report that the Manchester United defender made this decision due to numerous injuries he had in the past few years.
“Varane is only 29 years old, and he thinks that there are too many representative games in the season. He now wants to fully dedicate himself to his club career. “He has already communicated his decision to the coach of France, Didier Deschamps,”.
This newspaper reminds that Varane was the main candidate to be the new captain of the French national team in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship.
He played 93 games for the French national team and scored five goals.
He made his debut for the “tricolor” in 2013. With France, he won the World Cup in Russia in 2018, as well as second place at the recent World Cup in Qatar.
