AC Milan secured a 3-0 victory over Empoli in Serie A, with two first-half goals extending their unbeaten run to six matches. Under the lights at a foggy San Siro, Paulo Fonseca’s side made a strong start, with Alvaro Morata playing a key role.
Initially, Morata missed a chance in the box, dragging his shot wide. However, he redeemed himself minutes later when Rafael Leao’s deflected shot fell to him, allowing Morata to net the opening goal.
Empoli struggled in the first half as Milan controlled the match and doubled their lead before the break. A loose ball after a failed clearance from the visitors was seized by Tijjani Reijnders, who fired it home to give Milan a 2-0 advantage.
Ahead of the second half, Roberto D’Aversa made two substitutions, and Empoli created their first real chance in the 54th minute. Milan’s failed build-up allowed Youssef Maleh to fire a shot at goal, but it struck the crossbar.
Milan quickly regained control, adding a third goal in the 69th minute. A swift counter-attack from an Empoli move saw Reijnders sprint from near midfield to the edge of the box, where he finished confidently.
With the game effectively decided, Fonseca rested some players in preparation for Milan’s Coppa Italia match later in the week. Empoli, meanwhile, struggled to make any impact and failed to register a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.
This victory marked Milan’s first home league win in three games as they look to bounce back from early-season challenges and strengthen their push for a top-four finish.
