Milan thrash Sassuolo 6-1 to passing to Coppa Italia quarter-finals

AC Milan delivered a dominant performance at the San Siro, dismantling Sassuolo 6-1 to book their place in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. Paulo Fonseca’s men were unstoppable, producing a first-half masterclass that stunned their opponents and the home fans in raptures.

The Rossoneri wasted no time asserting their authority, scoring four goals in a breathtaking 23-minute spell. Samuel Chukwueze opened the scoring in the 12th minute, latching onto Tijjani Reijnders’ incisive through ball to slot home with ease. Reijnders was instrumental again six minutes later, firing a thunderous strike from distance to double Milan’s lead.

Chukwueze added his second in the 21st minute, capitalizing on Tammy Abraham’s clever pass to make it 3-0. Just two minutes later, Rafael Leão got in on the act, finishing off a sublime no-look assist from Ruben Loftus-Cheek to send Milan into the break with an unassailable 4-0 lead.

Despite the comfortable margin, Milan showed no signs of slowing down. Club captain Davide Calabria made it 5-0 in the 56th minute, pouncing on a rebound following Christian Pulisic’s shot off the post. Sassuolo responded briefly through Samuele Mulattieri, whose well-taken strike in the 59th minute gave the visitors a glimmer of consolation.

However, the Rossoneri quickly restored their dominance, with Abraham finding the net in the 62nd minute after a slick pass from substitute Noah Okafor. From there, Milan controlled the game, maintaining their attacking intensity while stifling any Sassuolo attempts to rally.

The emphatic win sees Milan advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face the winner of Roma vs. Sampdoria, scheduled for December 18. With Fonseca rotating his squad effectively and key players delivering standout performances, the Rossoneri look well-equipped to challenge the Coppa Italia crown this season.

In this form, Milan is sending a strong message to their rivals: they mean business in both domestic and European competitions this season.
